KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Theresa Brown

NSCHC is honored to welcome Northside resident and acclaimed nurse-author Theresa Brown as this year’s keynote speaker.

As both a practicing clinical nurse and a writer, Theresa has devoted her career to highlighting the real-world barriers patients face and the deep compassion required to make health care truly accessible. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Shift, and her highly anticipated new book, The Cost of Care: How Four Nurses Put Patients First in a Profit-Driven System, is set for release on October 27, 2026. Her upcoming book offers an urgent, timely look at the systemic challenges facing modern medicine and the dedicated individuals fighting to keep care patient-centered.

A powerful voice in national media, Theresa's work has appeared in The New York Times and CNN.com, and she has been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air and Here & Now, MSNBC, and Hardball. Today, she continues to balance her time between frontline clinical nursing and advocating for compassionate healthcare reform.

Guests will not want to miss this inspiring opportunity to hear Theresa speak about the vital importance of accessible care—and how those very values are reflected every day in the work we do here at NSCHC.

Gala Headliner

RH Factor Featuring Roger Humphries

This year, NSCHC is delighted to feature a true hometown treasure at our annual gala: Northside icon and legendary jazz drummer Roger Humphries, performing alongside his band, RH Factor.

Roger’s profound connection to Pittsburgh’s North Side is the heartbeat of his career. It is woven into his music and reflected in his dedication to nurturing the next generation of local talent. Recognized globally, he was named an inaugural Jazz Legacies Fellow by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and has performed with music royalty, including Ray Charles.

Despite his international acclaim, Roger's heart remains in Pittsburgh. We’re privileged to host an evening filled with his signature hard-bop and soul-jazz rhythms—a true celebration of community, mentorship, and hometown pride.
