Supporting Health Through Nutrition

North Side Christian Health Center recognizes that access to nutritious food is an important part of overall health and wellness. We connect patients and families who identify as food insecure with healthy food resources. We also provide nutrition education to support healthy choices and the management of chronic conditions. When patients need assistance accessing nutritious food, we offer the following:

Food Boxes

Shelf-stable groceries are provided in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to support patients and families experiencing food insecurity. Offerings vary based on availability. Made possible by a generous grant from The Buhl Foundation.

Food Bucks

Vouchers are redeemable at two locally owned North Side grocery stores: Mayfly Market & Deli and Freeman Family Farm Store. Food Bucks can be used to purchase a variety of nutritious foods, including fresh produce, milk, eggs, butter, chicken, bread, and orange juice, as well as prepared foods. Some restrictions may apply. Made possible by a generous grant from The Buhl Foundation.

Fresh Produce

Free fresh produce is available once a month in the reception area of North Side Christian Health Center’s Middle Street location. This program is provided through a partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc. (PCSI).
