North Side Christian Health Center (NSCHC) is proud to announce that Dr. Dallas Malzi, Chief Medical Officer, has been selected as a recipient of the Dena Hofkosh Excellence in Community Pediatric Education Award for 2024–2025.
Dr. Katherine Watson, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, UPMC Children’s Hospital, and Dr. Dallas Malzi, NSCHC Chief Medical Officer
This distinguished honor recognizes Dr. Malzi’s exceptional commitment to pediatric education, particularly his mentorship of residents from UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP). His dedication to teaching, advocacy, and compassionate care for underserved populations continues to shape the next generation of community healthcare providers.
The award was presented during the Dena Hofkosh Educational Symposium on May 15 at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
“We are beyond grateful for all the education, skill development, and mentorship that you have provided for this generation of Pittsburgh Pediatricians,” said Dr. Katherine Watson, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, General Academic Pediatrics at UPMC Children’s.
Dr. Malzi expressed his gratitude: “I am so grateful to my colleagues at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and to my colleagues in the community who nominated me. I am honored to host a variety of young physicians at North Side Christian Health Center each year. There is no better pursuit in medicine than serving those in need. I have the privilege of working at an organization that is committed to providing excellent care to all, and I strive to impress upon all the learners that rotate through our clinic how rewarding a career in Federally Qualified Health Center Medicine is. I am humbled and honored by this award and look forward to continuing my efforts at NSCHC. Everyone deserves to feel valued and cared for in our Northside community.”
Bethany Blackburn, CEO of NSCHC, added: “NSCHC is pleased to be making an impact on the City’s pediatric education for community healthcare providers through our own Dr. Malzi. His leadership and commitment to underserved communities reflect the very heart of our mission.”
Other award recipients include Dr. Mador and Dr. Ragunanthan, recognized for their own contributions to pediatric medical education.
Dr. Malzi’s leadership and mentorship represent a vital part of NSCHC’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all communities—regardless of income or insurance status—have access to high-quality, compassionate pediatric care.
