On June 6, 2007, North Side Christian Health Center became the proud new owner of the
building located at 816 Middle Street.
This acquisition was made possible by the combination of
generosity of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, favorable loan terms from the Northside
Community Development Fund, and the use of the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Tax
Credit Program.
This quality building triples our available clinical space and includes a Child and
Family Health Center and space for planned dental operatories.
The building deconstruction and reconstruction is being performed according to the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) national building guidelines.
 The pursuit of this healthy
building process is in line with our purpose of caring for body, mind and spirit while also incorporating
technologies that are environmentally responsible. We have chosen no-emitting paints that do not
off-gas chemical smells, anti-microbial and non-porous work surfaces, motion light sensors in every
exam room, and use of recycled materials wherever possible.

We do not intend to merely throw some paint on the walls and reglue the peeling cabinetry veneers
and call it our new home.  We know that a quality renovation project may seem ambitious for a small
community-based organization, but
we are likely to have this chance only once -- and what we do
today will affect our patients and the North Side for years to come.
We have had enough of the
experience of 'making do.'
$1.4 million of our nearly $2 million projected renovation and fit-out has been raised to date.
Help us
close the gap!

Update! Renovations are ongoing, but we are thrilled to announce that we are taking patient
appointments at 816 Middle Street!  Please excuse the construction mess and inconveniences while
we finish our improvements.  We appreciate your support.
